A class of children and two adult supervisors stand in front of a large greenhouse, surrounded by beds of yellow and orange marigolds in full bloom. The children are dressed in the neat, formal clothing expected of schoolchildren in the 1950s—pleated skirts, pressed shirts, suspenders—as though being taken somewhere educational was an event that required proper dress. An adult man in a white shirt and dark trousers stands with his back to the camera, while a woman in an orange cardigan speaks to the group. One boy has already begun eating something, indifferent to whatever instruction or tour is underway. The greenhouse behind them is industrial, functional, the sort of place a school might visit to teach children about growing things, though it is impossible to tell whether anyone here was actually interested in the plants or merely willing to stand still for the required amount of time.
