The historian's note

Cuzcoは古代インカの首都であり、16世紀の征服後にスペイン植民地都市として再構成されました。この都市の特徴的な建築は、インカの石造り基礎とスペイン植民地建築を組み合わせており、多くが本稿で見える彫刻された木製の手すりを特徴としています。1950年代までに、Cuzcoは20世紀半ばのカラー写真観光とドキュメンタリー作品の主要な目的地でした。白漆喰の外観、石造りの通り、狭い通路は17世紀からほぼ変わらないままであり、この都市は植民地時代のペルーの生きた展覧会になっていました。この若い男の西洋の衣装と形式的な姿勢は、南米の都市全体で起きていた20世紀半ばの文化的同化と近代化を反映しており、歴史的に先住民の中心地においても同様です。
