The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex originally constructed during the Nasrid dynasty's rule of the Emirate of Granada. It stands as one of the finest examples of Islamic architecture in the world, with significant Christian additions following the Reconquista in 1492, most notably the Palace of Charles V. The Church of Santa María de la Alhambra, visible here, was built on the site of the former Great Mosque within the complex.
