In the 1970s, going on a group tour meant dressing for the occasion, not for comfort. Women in bright dresses, matching handbags, and carefully tied scarves lined up, ready to perform the serious business of being a tourist, even if it mostly involved standing on a city street. This was a time when looking respectable was paramount, no matter the weather.
