The historian's note

闘牛は、corrida de torosとして知られており、スペイン、メキシコおよび様々な南米諸国の文化に深く根ざした伝統的な見世物である。1950年代、これらのイベントは一貫して専用の闘牛場に大規模な観客を引き付け、重要な公開集会としての地位を維持していた。

イベントは厳格に儀式化された構造に従い、闘牛士(またはトレロ)が闘牛と一連のパスを実行する。彼は象徴的なtraje de luces、すなわち「光の衣装」を身に着けている。この精巧な衣装は、パフォーマンスの儀式的性質を強調している。
