Fünf Skifahrer durchschneiden die Bugwelle in identischen roten Anzügen und weißen Tropenhelmen – die Uniform einer jeden Wasserskigruppe, die gleichzeitig athletisch und vage kolonial wirken wollte. Jemand im Außenbordboot zieht alle fünf an einer einzigen Leine – ein Kunststück, das perfektes Timing, ebenbürtige Fähigkeiten und absolutes Vertrauen verlangte, dass niemand vor dir stürzen würde.

Die verankerte Sprungschanze vor der Küste beweist, dass es sich um eine vollständige Ski-Show handelte, aufgebaut um Sprungroutinen und Pyramidentformationen, die Florida-Touristenattraktionen in genau diesem Jahrzehnt der Urlaubsfamilien perfektioniert hatten. Ein Schwimmerpodum schaukelt leer in der Nähe, und ein Sprungturm steht verlassen im Hintergrund – Requisiten für Nummern, die gerade nicht laufen.

Am Strand warten zwei gelbe Rettungsbojen an der Wasserkante, unbenutzt und schwach optimistisch, in der Annahme, dass solch trainierte Fertigkeiten selten der Rettung bedürfen.
