Alguns lugares existem sem precisar de aprovação ou intervenção humana. Este corpo d'água particular nos anos 1950 era um deles, um emaranhado de árvores e água que não pedia um caminho a ser aberto ou suas margens claramente definidas. Simplesmente era, e ainda parecia contente com aquele arranjo.

A água carregava uma película de detritos naturais, sinal de que o ecossistema local operava eficientemente, processando o que caía nela sem necessidade de dragagem municipal.
