A boy in a blue sleeveless shirt and dark shorts runs along a narrow dirt path overhung with dense deciduous foliage, moving away from the camera into deep shade. The path is edged with wild growth and the canopy above is so thick it blacks out the sky. He is running with the unselfconscious urgency of a child alone in the woods, in an era when a boy could disappear into a forest for an afternoon without anyone calling the authorities. The trees have mostly swallowed the light, and he is already half-swallowed by them.
