誰かが道路が見晴らしをもたらしてくれるところに車を止め、この尾根、干し草畑のパッチワーク、そして特定の納屋の配置が永続的な記録に値すると判断した。それが1960年代のロードトリッパーの静かな自信だ。バージニアやペンシルベニアの農地を二車線のハイウェイで運転し、車座にカメラを置いて、長い山と白い農家の集まりが映画の価値があると確信していた。
