1960年代のブラジル公園部門の誰かが、コンクリート柱と河原石を自然が単にアーキテクトとの議論に負けたかのように見えるように配置できると判断した。トゲのあるアガベとサンセビエリアの植物は隙間を突き抜けるように生えており、まるで造園について読んだことはあるが実際には庭仕事をしたことのない委員会によって配置されたかのようである。これはBurle Marxの熱帯モダニズムの時代においては、しばしば真実に近かった。
遠くにはヤシの木々の上に細身の記念碑がそびえ立つ。これは1960年代に都市が金銭と現代的な趣味の両方を持っていることを証明するために建てた市民彫刻の類であり、通常は同時に且つ同じ写真撮影の機会のためのものである。その後ろの山々は関心がなさそうに見える。市の予算が保守管理を許す以上に何度も天際線が形を変えるのを見てきたからである。
前景の石は、偶発的に見えることを意図した設計の自信に満ちた不規則性で配置されている。これは説得力を持って偽造するのが最も難しい秩序の形である。1960年代のRioの誰もが、公共広場が抽象彫刻として機能することができると疑わなかったようであり、一時期は確かにそうだったのである。
