The historian's note
画像は1970年代のコロラド州Animas River Canyonを横断するDurango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroadの蒸気機関車を描いています。1880年代に元々建設されたこの鉄道は、San Juan Mountainsから銀と金の鉱石を運搬する際に重要な役割を果たしました。
1970年代までに、D&SNGは主に重要なヘリテージ鉄道に転換され、真正で歴史的な交通手段からキャニオンの荒々しい美しさを体験したいと考える訪問者を引き付けました。その継続的な運営はアメリカ鉄道史の重要な部分を保存しました。
