The historian's note
This image depicts the urban landscape of Monte Carlo, Monaco, during the 1970s. Visible are the Jardins du Casino in the foreground and the iconic Monte Carlo Casino, which also houses the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, designed by Charles Garnier.
The period saw significant development in Monaco, with the construction of numerous high-rise residential buildings to accommodate its growing population and exclusive clientele. This expansion often resulted in a blend of modern architecture with the principality's existing Belle Époque structures.
