The historian's note

ノーザンカリフォルニアの Cascade Range にある 14,179 フィートの成層火山である Mount Shasta は、20世紀半ばの記録写真における色彩写真の標準的な主題であった。峰の顕著性、地域全体での可視性、および劇的な高山環境により、1935年に商業的に導入され、真摯な色彩旅行作業の標準となったコダクロームフィルムの自然な目標となった。眺めのスケールと明確さは、山の北側の場所、おそらく現在の Klamath Falls, Oregon またはノーザンカリフォルニア高原の近所からの場所を示唆している。山頂の氷河のような外観と積雲開発の密度は、地域の夏の対流条件と一致している。
