誰かがコパカバーナの波に足首まで浸かりながらカメラを構え、リオの訪問客が契約上持ち帰ることを余儀なくされた唯一の景色に向けた。それはビーチに並ぶアパートメントビルの曲線、海、そしてまるで観光客のために配置されたかのように地平線に座るSugarloaf Mountainだった。1960年代までに、これはすでに消耗し尽くされたお決まりごとであり、百万人の休暇客が繰り返した絵葉書ショットで、全員が景色に気付くのが自分たちが最初だと信じていた。
