On the image

A man, mostly a confident silhouette, steers a course through the 1970s, a decade when personal aviation still carried an air of adventurous individualism. His choice of headwear, complete with a distinctive pompom, suggests a belief that one's personal style should extend even to the confines of a small cockpit, regardless of what the flight manual might have to say on the matter.
