By the 1970s, it offered a popular nostalgic experience, allowing travellers to ride authentic steam-powered trains through historic landscapes.
The open-window cars were a distinguishing feature, providing passengers with an immersive, if somewhat exposed, view of the dramatic natural environment that once sustained a bustling mining industry.
