In the 1970s, people decided that a multi-tiered structure, all sharp angles and protruding balconies, was exactly the kind of building that belonged deep in a winter mountain landscape. They were confident this design would blend seamlessly with nature, or at least offer a good view whilst standing out.

The surrounding trees, mostly bare and dusted with what appears to be an eternal blue frost, seem to absorb any warmth the architects might have intended. There is construction debris scattered near the foundations, suggesting that even after building this, some parts of the plan remained, as is often the case, "conceptual."

The overall effect is of human ambition firmly planted in a place that has its own ideas about permanence and colour palette. It's a bold statement, made with straight lines and concrete, in a world that mostly prefers curves and the subtle greens of summer.
