The historian's note
RMS Queen Maryは1936年から1967年まで北大西洋を航行していたイギリスの客船である。スコットランドのクライデバンクにあるJohn Brown & Companyによって建造され、Cunard White Star Lineの旗艦船であった。
1967年の運航終了後、カリフォルニア州ロングビーチ市に購入され、そこに永久に係留された。大規模な改修工事により、船はホテル、博物館、コンベンションセンターに改築され、1971年に一般公開された。
1970年代のこの写真はRMS Queen Maryの新しい役割を捉えており、重要な歴史的船舶の商業的および文化的ランドマークへの転用を示している。これは豪華客船時代の終焉と、静的な観光地としての第二の人生の始まりを標す。
