誰かがこの湿地帯にはレーダー基地が必要だと決め、排水溝と積み重ねられた砂利から察するに、他の誰かは数週間かけてそれを思いとどまらせようとした。小屋の背後にある白い測地線ドームは、追跡する必要があったものを追跡する実際の作業をしていたが、一列のプレハブ鋼製建物は陸軍の他の必須の仕事をこなしていた。重要なものが5分以上裸の地面に触れないようにすることである。
左端に沿って走っている杭の上の高架通路が存在するのは、建物が高いパッド上に座っている理由と同じである。つまり、基地の敷地をどのように調査した者も、雨季がそれに何をするのかをすでに知っており、楽観的にではなく、それに応じて建設したからである。この時期の軍事工学は、地形を場所の次に第一に敵と見なしていた。
この写真の誰も泥、配線、または複合施設の全般的な即興的な散らばりについて懸念しているように見えない。それ自体が歴史の小さな一片である。これは、永続性ではなく緊急性の予算で戦争が遂行されていたとき、有能で一時的で最終的には取り壊されることが予想されていたインフラがどのように見えたかである。
