この画像は、1970年代に明るい赤い鉄道車両の横に立つ男性と女性の2人の個人を描いており、カブースとして特定できる。

カブースは伝統的に貨物列車で列車を観察する責任を負う乗務員のために使用されていたが、列車終了装置（EOTD）の導入と改善されたリモート監視技術により、それらの機能は減少し始めた。

1970年代と1980年代までに、多くの鉄道会社がカブースを段階的に廃止し、能動的なサービスからの退職につながった。廃止されたカブースは、博物館、観光地、さらには私有住宅の静的展示として新しい生命を見つけることが多く、鉄道輸送の以前の時代の象徴となった。
