On the image

Someone, at some point, decided that understanding how these rocks ended up stacked like this was a worthwhile endeavour. They gathered tools, perhaps a pickaxe and a notebook, and set out to decipher the planet's cryptic autobiography, written in layers of compressed sediment. Each line represented millions of years of patiently doing nothing, until a human arrived with theories.

The sun, operating on its own schedule, provided dramatic illumination, creating a harsh contrast between the ancient blues and stark whites. This made visual interpretation both exciting and exceedingly difficult, forcing geologists to squint and hypothesise, much like trying to read a very old instruction manual printed in a tiny font.

They took pictures like this, believing the camera captured definitive proof of something profound, while the rocks merely continued their slow, indifferent process of erosion and existence. The evidence was there, if only one could accurately translate the universal language of quiet permanence.
