Alguien en un viaje en auto decidió que esta curva del río merecía detenerse, y luego no logró bajarse del auto para tomar la foto como correspondía. El pasamanos cromado del puente corta el tercio inferior del encuadre, inamovible e inadvertido por el fotógrafo, quien miraba más allá, hacia el agua, en lugar de fijarse en lo que el lente realmente hacía.

Este es el gran problema sin resolver de la fotografía de viajes amateur de los años 1950: el turista veía un paisaje, no una fotografía, y la cámara registraba la diferencia con total indiferencia. El río se desliza plano y vidrioso entre el prado de heno y la línea de árboles, ese tipo de lugar pintoresco e insignificante que todo viaje por carretera europeo producía a docenas y que nadie, de vuelta en casa, podía luego ubicar en un mapa.

Hoy sobrevive exactamente como lo que fue concebida para ser, el recuerdo de una parada que nadie anotó, prueba de que el viaje ocurrió, sin prueba de dónde.
