Dies ist eine Landschaft, die von einem Komitee entworfen wurde, wobei 'raue' und 'minimalistische' die einzigen Vorgaben waren, was zu Felsen und einigen Pflanzen führte, die offenbar erbittert um Wasserrechte stritten. Die gesamte Szene verkörpert einen effizienten, sachlichen Ansatz zum Ökosystemmanagement, besonders nützlich in den 1970er Jahren, als Effizienz noch als Tugend galt.

Man könnte sich eine Familienkombilimousine vorstellen, die am Straßenrand hält, Eltern, die Kindern die 'Naturschönheit' zeigen, die wirklich nur über die Snacksituation nachdachten. Die absolute Leere der Landschaft galt einst als charakterbildend, ein stilles Zeugnis für Orte, an die der menschliche Fortschritt noch nicht eingeladen worden war.

Es dient als Erinnerung daran, dass einige Teile der Welt völlig außerhalb der Launen der Populärkultur funktionieren, völlig zufrieden mit ihren geologischen Prozessen, völlig ahnungslos gegenüber Disco oder Schlaghosen. Die Felsen haben ihrerseits schon schlimmere Jahrzehnte gesehen.
